The story slam is an annual gathering of corps members, alumni, staff, and community members. Throughout the evening, educators, advocates, and leaders tell deeply personal stories on stage that both inspire and challenge us. The Collective Charlotte Story Slam is an entertaining and emotional opportunity for a diverse audience to experience a variety of perspectives. Additionally, all proceeds go towards transitional funding for incoming educators of color or students transitioning to college.

The People of Color Reception is an opportunity for current and incoming corps members, and alumni to network, enjoy fellowship, and honor each other. The reception serves three purposes:

  • Welcome incoming Corps Members into Charlotte
  • Induct second-year corps members into the Collective
  • Recognize and celebrate alumni and community members who embody The Collective values.

During the reception, Catalyst Awards are also presented to nominated change-makers within the Charlotte region

Alumni, along with current first and second year corps members are afforded the opportunity to kick back, network, enjoy some fellowship, and relax before Winter Break. The Collective Winter Social always takes place in early December and typically consists of some form of entertainment, and of course food, fun, and conversation.
